Plastic surrounding food... not good. I first heard about it of course regarding cooking in plastic containers - if you consider a microwave oven event cooking. Then that keeping foods frozen in plastic containers risked degrading the structure of the plastic and getting microscopic, yet cancer-causing, particles or shards ingested in us. And now, it seems, it may just be better to not use the stuff at all. So what to do? Everything I perused in the grocery store that wasn't in a produce aisle seems to be wrapped, stuffed, containerized, or otherwise touching, plastic or metal. Now metals seem to offer their own set of risks and vulnerabilities. Are we simply destined to suffer or is there a holy grail of food containment out there?
